Jet Set

 August 12th

Plugs looked a bit sooty after last (albeit short) ride out.

Decided to revert to 30 jets. Easy to swap out 30 minute job.  Rode out got everything nice and hot, running ok, spent about 40 minutes tuning air screws and throttle screws, and then re-synching throttle opening (LH activating early).  Everything settled down nicely garage wise, will have to see how the next ride out goes.

It's all in the head

Tuesday 28 July

Once again in possession of a set of feeler gauges.   Time to check the cylinder head bolt torque settings.  A pleasant couple of hours, no rush.

LH needed pinching up a bit.   Exhaust valve clearance a bit excessive.  It did sound clicky on that side.
RH better, tight enough.

All clearances set to .23mm.

Managed to drop the rocker spindle screw retaining washer next to the push rod tunnel.  Fortunately it was easily retrievable with nose pliers.  Could have been a problem if it had found it's way down there.

Plenty of oil swilling around up top end.

Lock Down Days

June 1st 2020

Still not that keen on any kind of mixing.  Things seem to be loosening up too soon, too haphazardly, and without a working test and trace regime.

But gathered up enough Moxy for a short loosener to start off this year's mileage.  Just about a ten mile round trip, no wing mirrors so cut it a bit short.

But it was good to go out and play....

On return rather disappointed to be losing g/box out from under the bell housing
😕

Fuel line fix

Sunday June 1st

Installed new cross over fuel pipes bough a couple of years back from the garage sale down south.

Straightforward once the battery was out and the air filters removed.

I don't like the way the air filters are sucked in, suggests over restrictive.  Will have to think about that one.

What say you Mr Legg?

Oil change

27 May 2020

Ongoing lock down inhibiting any runs out.

Opened garage doors and started up.  All fine.

T3 happy in new home

Except bad leak from fuel pipe to LH carb.  Inspection revealed a lot of perish.  Attempt to fix only made it much worse, cracks open all over.  Not really full warmed up, but decided to drop the oil.  It was black.  About 2 litres came out.  Replaced with 2.5 litres approx., half way up the dipstick.

Only 314 miles since been properly on the road
Time to put an order in to Gutsibits.  Fuel pipes and any other bits and bobs for maintenance jobs.   I think I may get a gasket set and drop the sump to replace the filter on the next change.  Assuming I everget the mileage in.
